Cacao/Hot Chocolate is a favorite drink for many people that helps us survive the cold winter months. But not many people know that cocoa powder can be used to prepare homemade face masks.
“Chocolate” face masks do a very good job of hydrating, rejuvenating, lifting and toning your face.
Cacao beans of which cocoa powder is made have several useful properties. Some of which can benefit you in terms of skin health.
High Antioxidant Content
Cocoa powder has higher levels of antioxidant content than that of green tea, black tea or red wine, according to a study conducted by the Department of Food Science and Technology, Seoul National University . Benefits of high antioxidant chocolate facials include cell repair and cell damage prevention. Antioxidants in chocolate neutralize free radicals and prevent them from damaging cells as well.
Chocolate contains copper, iron, manganese, magnesium and zinc for the promotion of cell growth, the repair of tissue and the absorption of nutrients.
Here is a very simple 3 ingredients-only face mask recipe for you to try.
· 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
· 1 tbsp of warm water
· 1 pump of Isabella’s Clearly SOFT (can be substituted with Almond, Grapeseed or Avocado oil)
Blend all the ingredients well until it becomes a smooth mixture. Apply it on clean dry face avoiding the eyes area.
The application will be easier if you will use a makeup brush.
Leave the mask on your face for approximately 15 minutes.
Rinse with warm water.
