Facts you Want to Know about Almond Oil

About 2 weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about the benefits of Jojoba oil, and mentioned that it is included in a lot of our products. Another important carrier oil that we use in many Isabella’s Clearly products is Organic Sweet Almond oil. So in today’s blog post, I want to cover everything you need to know about Sweet Almond oil.

Facts you want to know about Almond Oil

Bitter or Sweet Almond Oil

Almond oil comes in two varieties: bitter and sweet. Bitter Almond oil, when processed, contains a toxic hydrocyanic acid, called amygdalin. Bitter Almond oil is not the type you want to use for skin care. Sweet Almond oil, however, has been used for centuries as a beauty aid because of its abundant health benefits and unique properties.

Sweet Almond oil is rich in B-complex vitamins, Vitamin E and A, monounsaturated fatty acids, proteins, and essential minerals such as: Calcium, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Phosphorus, Potassium, Selenium and Zinc.

Why you should use Sweet Almond Oil as a part of your Skin and Hair Care Routine:

  • Almond oil is a hypoallergenic oil. It is safe to use even for babies.

  • Because it is high in Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, regular use of Almond oil can protect your skin from oxidative stress and UV radiation damage. It also helps to repair damage of the collagen layer in the skin tissues, as a result reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Almond oil penetrates deeply into the skin, removing dirt and impurities from pores and softening the skin’s texture. This is why it's great for oil cleansing.

  • Because of the Vitamin A content in the oil, it can help in treating acne.

  • Almond oil helps to reduce dark circles under the eyes.

  • Almond oil has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce itching and dryness on broken skin. Being mild and gentle, it will prevent your skin from further damage and will not cause irritation.

  • It is rich in proteins, containing essential amino acids that are required for the formation of collagen. It helps with reducing pain associated with sore muscles and provides nourishment and rejuvenation to the tissues.

  • Naturally rich in Zinc, B-complex vitamins and Iron, Almond oil helps to improve nail health and soften cuticles.

  • Rich in minerals such as Zinc, Magnesium and Calcium, that are important minerals for healthy hair, Almond oil helps to restore strength and stimulates hair growth.

  • As the base carrier oil, Almond oil mixed with Neem Oil and Tea Tree Essential oil, makes an excellent anti-dandruff treatment for the scalp.
